Bah!
The wife and I have been plagued by headaches so often lately that it’s really becoming a pain.
I guess our stressful lives are really taking its toll on our heads. Me waking up at 5+ am everyday, reaching home at 8pm, then sleeping at nearly 2am. Not good for the circuit up there.
Anyways I got so frustrated with having to bear with pounding temples that I actually went around surfing for remedies. For one thing, I do not really like to take panadol or other pain killers. I guess this “fear” or phobia came out of reading so many mass emails on how damaging such drugs can be to the body in the long run. So I only resort to that as a last resort.
This is what I’ve found so far in 15 mins of rushed surfing:
1) Keep off the sweets!
This really surprised me. Apparently, high sugar in the bloodstream, or high blood sugar levels can be a factor that causes migraines! To counter this, the advice is to consume ‘healthy’ fats like oily fish, to get that Omega 3 goodness.
2) Vitamin B!
Vitamin B supplements are known to be beneficial against migraines. More details in the science of that can be found here
3) Magnesium!
In the same site as above, magnesium is also recommended as a standard treatment for migraine. So I guess, thats another supplement that I should take to ward off the throbbing pain.
4) Massage….yeah!
I also found another reference that says massage is good to relieve the pain.Massage the face, the head, the neck, the shoulders and try to relax those tense muscles caused by stress. I guess this is the best short term, measure one can use, but of course, this lasts only till the next massage!
More on that here
5) Avoid stress!
The most effective but yet the most difficult. Sigh…I think I don’t need to go into this one.
Well, if you all have any more ideas on how to relieve that headache, please, feel free to share!
p.s. Sometimes, I find engraving helps me to relax, but maybe its just the vibrations loosening up my muscles.
try drinking lots of alkaline water.
