How to reset your Swatch Chronograph’s misaligned hands
Dec 24th, 2007 by mark
I’ve posted a while ago about my experience with my Swatch Irony’s chronograph hands being misaligned. Just recently, a reader emailed me that he too was facing such a problem and battery changes don’t help. This leads me to believe that there could be more people out there who face this problem, getting frustrated, then chuck that Swatch watch away and get a new watch.
Now if you love your Swatch watch as much as I do, fret no more. This is what I discovered on how to reset the hands of the chronometer.
To resetĀ the Microseconds hand (this is the small top right circle on the watch face):
1) Pull the center knob, half click (as how you would to change the date)
2) Next press the top push button to adjust the hand
To reset the Seconds hand (this is the long thin hand):
1) Pull the center knob, half click (as how you would to change the date)
2) Next press the bottom push button to adjust the hand
To reset the Hours hand (this is the small top right circle on the watch face):
1) Pull the center knob, full click (as how you would to change the time)
2) Next press the top push button to adjust the hand.
Once all hands are reset, push the center knob back in fully and test the watch.
Hope the aboveĀ helps!
Mark - Thanks for passing on the Swatch Chrono knowledge - much appreciated!

Hi Rob,
Glad to be of help!

Hi Mark,
This was very useful. I just (today! 2 hours ago!) got the strap on my beloved 10 year old swatch replaced (I’m 25 so imagine how dear the watch is to me) and was wondering if to spend more on getting the hands aligned… Saved me a pretty penny and I’m still wearing it.
Hi Vardhan,
Glad to have helped you save those pennies!

Hi Mark,
Thank you very much for your help. Everything went wrong after I changed the battery.
Much appreciated
Dimitri
I also thank you for this post, it helped me
Thank u Thank u thank u!!
I cudnt get the microseconds one to work somehow.. but was able to reset the other 2. Cheers!
hi ! i have this irony swatch watch but i need to re-set the seconds circle at the bottom !! anyone knows how to pls ? and the 1/10 seconds hand always at 10 ?
Hi Ankur, you should bring your watch to a Swatch shop to have it looked at. It might really be faulty
Hi Sinister, the seconds circle at the bottom is supposed to be continually ticking. That circle counts the seconds for normal watch function. The big seconds needle is for stop watch function. The 1/10 seconds hand should be pointing at 0
Hi Ankur, thanks for the post, it really helped me.
Hi buddy!!!
Thanx a lot !!! Got everything sorted now …… cheers for that. If u ever find yourself in Wales, I owe you a beer !!!!
Thanks for that. I’m sure i will need to do it again in the future and i will not remember how. VERY much appreciated
thanks very very much for this post (:
PS. (The technique differs a little bit from a watch to another but the concept is the same)
Great help. It worked. Thanks
Great, thanks for that! Works a treat.
Thanks a lot. It worked like a charm. Previously had tried all possible combinations but was unable to get it done.
My swatch is now 8yrs old. Really love it.
Thanks again
Well done. I knew, that must be a little trick, as they fix it already for me once in a Swatch store (for free ;). So a little bit of googling and.. voila!
Thanks!
Thanks man, saved me the hassle of looking for the manual and looking it up.
Worked perfect - thanks
Thank you very much. Much time saved.
damn, I’ve just given the watch to my friend this morning. why didn’t I search it on the net first? damn!
Mark, Thankyou very much,
That was simple and clean treat to my Irony.
Thanks a heaps Mark…..It is unbelieved that Swatch doesn’t include this info in its website. Thank you very much from Australia
Cool! It worked! Many thanks!
Thanks for that! Was told by a store that I’d need a new watch. 10 seconds with Google and I have your solution. If you’re ever in Dublin I owe you a beer!
I concur with Diego, Swatch doesn’t include *any* information on the website or with the watch on howto use the chrongraph.

THANK YOU
Just found this page after googling. Watch hands are now in the right position - thank you!
Thanks!! This works..
I have something to contribute too.
If your alarm feature doesnt’ work, simply:
To reset the alarm trigger(this is the slide switch on the other side of the knobs):
1) Pull the center knob, full click (as how you would to change the time)
2) Next slide the alarm switch up and then down (as how you turn on or off alarm).
Once all hands are reset, push the center knob back in fully and test the watch.
