Some time back, I had a post and pictures of various Hello Kitty items such as laptops, handphones, digital camera etc etc. Now here’s my contribution to that list of Hello Kitty items, a Hello Kitty inspired wine bottle engraving as a 21st birthday present.

It is an engraving of a  simple picture of Hello Kitty with her partner, Dear Daniel, (or is it just Daniel?), the birthday gal’s name, date, birthday greeting as well as the name of the giver.

How I actually got to do engrave this wine bottle was rather unexpected and a little interesting.

It all started when I was talking to my colleague about engraving and he mentioned he wanted something special for his partner’s 21st birthday. So I blurted out jokingly, “Hey I could do something on a wine bottle, maybe a cutesy Hello Kitty thingy.” Lo and behold, he goes, “Yeah she loves Hello Kitty! Do it please!”

I was dumbstruck for a moment as I didn’t really expect him to agree. Somehow I’ve never understood the appeal of Hello Kitty, but I guess it is definitely a big thing with lots of girls, considering the amount of merchandise produced using the image of Hello Kitty. So I took a deep breath and agreed.

Off I went searching for suitable images of Hello Kitty. That was an easy task but getting one nice picture of Hello Kitty with Dear Daniel together was rather a challenge. Well Google Image search did help a lot and soon I had something to work with. Phew! Hard work done and I was off engraving once my dear friend confirmed the text details.
