Missing in action and happy birthday Singapore!

Sigh, I’ve been MIA from blogging for a while again. Well the cause of me not blogging anything is that I am serving National Service right now. Even though I book out on weekends, I have errands to run and sleep to catch up on. Totally brain dead and very sore muscles.
Anyway today is Singapore’s 42nd National Day so I figured it would be a good time to share something with blog readers out there.
Yesterday my camp had a parade to mark National Day. It was hot and humid but I guess, we recruits didn’t have a choice but to endure it all. It was a simple affair, companies formed up, sang the national anthem and recited the pledge. Here’s the interesting part. It has been about 10 years since I recited the pledge. Standing on the parade square and reciting the pledge felt surreal to me. It felt like a dream and at that moment, I felt really happy that I’m finally on track to being a Singaporean.
For many years, living and growing up in Singapore, I always felt something missing and I guess this is it, being a citizen. Over the past year, I’ve been living in Australia and Malaysia but still my heart longs to be back home in Singapore. Home is really where the heart is. Though the journey to getting back on track has been a tough one, I am glad that it is all behind me now and I am moving forward, from a blue NRIC to a blue 11B and hopefully to a pink NRIC in the future.
So HAPPY BIRTHDAY SINGAPORE!
p.s. that’s all from me for now until I P.O.P ![]()
