Have you ever had a great idea for a product but didn’t know how to proceed from there?
I am sure everyone of us has had some ideas at many points in our lives. However thanks to our own limited knowledge about creating a product and then selling it, such an endeavour might prove to be quite daunting and many people just bury their good idea away.
Well recently I came across this book, Launch It! How to turn good ideas into great products that sell.
I have had many ideas in the past but never seemed to take it anywhere. Now with this book,I have some idea how products are developed and sold and how people like me who have no business background, can start their own.
Launch It! breaks it down into simple terms for beginners in product development and is especially targeted at those who have no background in sales and business.
Topics such as identifying the customer, what are people buying, what trends are there, product development and packaging, marketing are covered. Topics such as funding, paperwork and building the company’s team are not missed as new product developers or people intending to form start ups, would find such information very useful.
I found that the first few chapters on product development and identifying the market is very important as it provides many helpful questions that product developers should ask before actually creating a product. Nobody wants to make something that no one would buy right? Or that the market is already too saturated with.
Though the book focuses on creating products in the US market, majority of the concepts covered are highly relevant in all countries. Coupled with lots of tips and short stories of existing businesses, this book makes a very interesting read, especially if you’ve had an idea that you want to develop and the entrepreneurship bug is biting.
